Initial Examination

To begin, your endodontist will review your medical and dental history, then examine your endodontic condition or injury. Your clinical examination will include a thorough examination of the condition of your teeth, gums, inner cheeks, tongue and the roof of your mouth.

Oral hygiene and any previous dental work or swelling in your mouth will be documented. X-rays will be taken so your endodontist can examine the shape of your teeth's roots and determine whether any conditions (such as cavities or tooth fractures) may be causing your pain.

Treatment

Based on your history and examination, your endodontist will conduct any other necessary tests to find out whether the source of your pain is endodontic in nature, then effectively treat the issue.
